MoD's Strategic Objectives

The Department's Strategic Objectives include:

  • Supporting  the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to achieve a global and regional reduction in conflict through improved UK and international efforts to prevent, manage and resolve conflict and to create the conditions required for effective state-building and economic development
  • Supporting the Home Office to reduce the risks to the UK and its interests overseas from international terrorism

The aim of the Defence Change Portfolio is to modernise the MoD's business processes, improving efficiency and effectiveness, thus maximising investment in front-line operational capability. It joins up the main change programmes across the MoD under central direction.

There are 18 change programmes as follows:

  • HYPERION - Establish an integrated Headquarters for the Field Army

  • BELVEDERE - Joint Helicopter Command Rationalisation
